Asking Price £ POA History Widely regarded as one of the most handsome sports coupes of its era, the 105 Series Alfa Romeo was first shown in 1963. Based on a shortened floorpan from the contemporary Giulia saloon model, the striking 2-door body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at stylists Bertone. Initially only available with a 1600 cc version of the four cylinder, light-alloy Alfa Romeo twin cam engine, both smaller(1300 cc) and larger capacity variants (1750 cc and 2 litre) were introduced over the near 15-year model life, which ended in 1977. The 1750GTV (Veloce) entered production in late 1967. It’s enlarged (1779 cc) engine produced a claimed 120 bhp and there were a number of chassis modifications – 14” wheels with wider tyres; revised suspension with a rear anti-roll bar and more powerful front disc brakes. It was replaced by the 2000 GTV in 1971. This example of the model was supplied new to an owner in the Charente district of France in April 1970 – we know from Alfa Romeo factory records that it was originally Hawthorn White with a Black Skai interior. The car remained with owners in this area of France, although we know that it had become unroadworthy by 1994. In 2014, it was acquired by its current owner – a Jersey resident motoring enthusiast – who commissioned a full, bespoke, restoration with a London-based marque specialist, which included the fitment of a period-correct replacement engine; full repaint in its current metallic blue colour scheme and re-upholstery throughout in tan leather. The restoration was completed in 2016 and the GTV re-registered in Jersey in November of that year (with 45,800 kms recorded). Having been kept in excellent condition subsequently, with regular servicing through ourselves and only lightly used, the car now shows 57,900 kms.
