With a front-mounted engine powering the single rear wheel, they quickly became known for manufacturing well-designed and well-built vehicles, proving very capable in the racing world. Morgan's first four-wheeler – the 4/4 - was released to the public in 1936, following the same build principles as their 3-wheeled models (which were phased out in 1952). The Morgan Plus 4 was then introduced (in 1950) with a larger engine to provide more performance.
